Kopa
Kopa has an elevation of 1377 m above sea level and is a small peak rising above the so-called Równia pod Śnieżką. Równia, in turn, is a large plateau located on the western side of Śnieżka. The surrounding area is mostly covered with peat bogs overgrown with mountain pine.
However, the uniqueness of this place is determined by human activity. In the mid-20th century, a chairlift station was built here. Thanks to it, you can conveniently ascend from Karpacz close to the summit of Śnieżka.
At the bottom, in Karpacz, the station is located in the Biały Jar area. Thanks to the chairlift, the distance that takes 1.5 hours on foot can be covered in about 7 minutes. The ride is safe and pleasant because the chairlift was thoroughly renovated in 2018.
Next to the chairlift station, there is a large mountain hut. It is a good starting point from which tourists begin their hike to Śnieżka. The ascent is not particularly difficult and takes no more than an hour to complete. In winter, the chairlift and mountain hut provide convenient conditions for skiers.
The route via Kopa, which combines a comfortable chairlift ride with an approach to the summit of Śnieżka, is a good option for all tourists, especially the less experienced ones. You can save yourself a strenuous climb to the top while still "conquering" the summit on your own feet. This gives more satisfaction than riding the lift directly to Śnieżka from the Czech side.
