The "Samotnia" Shelter is a unique place on the map of the Sudetes. It is one of the oldest shelters in Poland, located by the Mały Staw lake in the Karkonosze National Park. It is halfway from Karpacz to Mount Śnieżka.
You can reach "Samotnia" in several ways. The first route is along the blue trail, the easiest, from Karpacz Główny from the Wang church. In summer, it is possible to reach the shelter via this trail, which runs next to the Hunting Lodge, by the Mały Staw.
From Karpacz, the yellow and blue trails "Torem Saneczkowym" lead from the PKS stop "Biały Jar" to the shelter, as well as the green trail next to the Pląsawa stream and the blue trail from Polana.
Another route runs through the "Śląska Droga" along the black, yellow, and blue trails, but it can only be used in summer due to avalanche danger.
The access from Kopy, from the upper station of the chairlift, leads through "Biały Jar" along the black, yellow, and blue trails, only in summer. In winter, however, we can reach the place via the black trail, the path above the "Biały Jar" gully, and the blue trail.
The "Samotnia" shelter has 50 sleeping places in rooms for 1 to 8 people. The accommodations have sinks, and the public bathrooms are located on the first floor. The shelter also has a kitchen and a buffet open from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM, providing all-day meals.
The shelter serves as a base for the Mountain School, organizing activities related to various mountain activities and potential dangers we may encounter. These include avalanche and ski touring training. You can also use equipment rental services, experienced Sudeten guides, organize events, and participate in a Tai Chi course at the shelter.
